My style both in portraits and weddings is as an observer. I stand back and watch a reception using my long lens or I follow a toddler around their house. I let people be themselves and I find my favorite images come from the most natural moments.
Through working with a prominent wedding studio in the portland pearl, I have photographed so many diverse couples and families. Many people feel more comfortable when given guidance and in that sense my "style" changes to support each client's confidence in front of the camera. So, sometimes I do "pose" people in a certain place in their scene and give them an idea of what I'm looking for, but I don't tell them how to tilt their chin. This keeps my images fresh, relaxed and authentic.
Besides the style and the types of photos you want, it is also important to match your personality with your photographer. If you are comfortable and enjoying yourself, your pictures will be show it. It's important to hire a photographer whose portfolio you love but also who you really like. I'm a people person and know that helping everyone feel comfortable, whether that's your new family at your wedding reception or your toddler, is a really important part of what I do.

We really enjoyed working with you. The way I usually measure this is how well Ethan interacts with the photographer and hands down, he liked you the best (we've worked with five photographers since he was born). This may seem insignificant, but as a parent and paying customer, it is important for me to have photos of my kids happy, rather than frightened or indifferent.
Needless to say, we are very pleased with the photos and have shared them with our friends and family.
